When you post a review, try to cover:

1. Staff responsiveness. How quickly did staff respond to requests or concerns? Did that change over time?

2. Medical and emergency handling. How were medical needs managed day to day? If there was ever an emergency, how did the facility respond?

3. Would you recommend it, and why? Be specific — what made the difference, good or bad?

Menlo Park Senior Center is a really welcoming and well-equipped place for seniors in the Belle Haven community. The center is spacious, bright, and has multiple rooms for different activities. There’s something going on every day, whether it’s having lunch with friends, playing dominoes or cards, shooting pool, sewing, knitting, or simply spending time with other people.

One thing that really stands out is the variety of services available. The center offers healthy daily lunches, grocery giveaways, health screenings, and even a small farmers market. There’s also a shuttle service that helps seniors get to and from the center, which is especially valuable for people who don’t drive. The nearby Onetta Harris Community Center adds even more resources, including fitness classes, a weight room, art room, swimming pool, and computer access.

Veterans Memorial Senior Center is a nice community resource with plenty of classes, activities, and events, but the facility itself is starting to show its age. Some of the buildings and spaces could definitely use renovations and updating. While the larger meeting rooms are spacious and generally clean, the overall campus feels somewhat dated. One time, a class was cancelled unexpectedly, which has only happened to me once but can be frustrating for people who have traveled specifically to attend them.

There is still a lot to like about the center, especially the staff, activities, and sense of community, but the facilities and occasional scheduling issues are areas that could be improved.
