Community Guidelines
Welcome! This is a space for caregivers to ask questions, share quick tips, and support each other in real time. A few ground rules will keep this a safe, useful place for everyone:
1. This is a space for caregivers, about caregiving. Posts should relate to your caregiving experience, including questions, situations you're navigating, or tips that helped you. Please keep the focus on caregiving rather than unrelated topics.
2. Protect the privacy of the person you care for. Please don't share full names, addresses, school names, workplaces, medical record details, or photos of the person you're caring for (especially if that person is a minor or someone who can't consent to being discussed publicly themselves). Speak from your own experience as the caregiver; you can describe a situation fully without identifying the person in it.
3. This is peer support, not professional advice. Members can share what worked for them, but please don't present personal experience as medical, legal, or psychological advice, and don't ask others to diagnose, prescribe, or direct treatment. If a post describes a health or safety concern that sounds urgent, we encourage reaching out to a qualified professional or emergency services rather than relying on responses here.
4. Be respectful. Caregiving experiences vary widely, and what worked for one family may not fit another. Disagree with ideas, not people. Personal attacks, harassment, or dismissive comments about someone else's situation aren't allowed.
5. No solicitation or self-promotion. This isn't a space for advertising products, services, or fundraising campaigns, including from well-meaning members. If you have a resource you think belongs on the site, suggest it to our team here instead of posting it directly.
6. Report, don't retaliate. If you see a post that concerns you — whether it seems unsafe, breaks these guidelines, or worries you about someone's wellbeing — please use the report option rather than responding publicly. Our team reviews reports and will follow up as needed.
7. We moderate with care. Posts may be removed or edited if they violate these guidelines, and repeated violations may result in a suspended posting ability. Our goal is to keep this space safe and useful.
A note on crisis situations: This board is not monitored 24/7 and is not a substitute for emergency services. If you or someone you're caring for is in immediate danger, or you're experiencing thoughts of self-harm, please contact 911 (US) or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) right away.
